Coastal Medical Employees Raise Over $2300 Through RhodyTHON's First Annual 5k Color Run
Over 80 Coastal employees recently participated in the First Annual RhodyTHON 5k Color Run at the University of Rhode Island, raising over $2300 to support Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The Coastal employees in the Charity and Community Service Initiative, which formed in January 2019 as the result of an all-staff vote, designed an Activities Subgroup to bring all employees closer together and give back to the community. So far this year, the Charity and Community Service team helped build a home in Woonsocket through Habitat for Humanity and led a backpack drive to deliver school supplies to Rhode Island children in need.
“Our team is passionate about improving the care we provide and fostering the health of everyone in our community. Hasbro Children’s Hospital is a cornerstone in the care of children and families of Rhode Island and Massachusetts and Coastal Medical is proud to support their efforts.” said Coastal Medical Chief Medical Officer Dr. Edward McGookin. “Coastal’s Charity and Community Service Initiative is one of the many inspiring, collaborative efforts that are driven by our dedicated employees. Working together to make an impact like this truly embodies what it means to be Proudly Coastal.”

“We were overwhelmed with the turnout from Coastal employees to support this worthy cause. We are very passionate about giving to the community and look forward to participating in events like these in the future. It was a beautiful, fun and colorful morning and I’m proud to be part of such a great team here at Coastal,” said Shuster, Nurse Care Manager at Coastal Medical East Greenwich.
“I am so happy we voted as a company to participate in this event to support Hasbro Children’s Hospital. We had a blast with our Coastal team, as well as their families and friends. It is privilege to work with Abbe, our Activities Subgroup members and all of my Coastal colleagues. It truly does take a team, and that’s what we have at Coastal,” said Bernier, Senior Financial Analyst at Coastal Medical Corporate.
Later this year, Coastal Medical’s Charity and Community Service Initiative plans to hold a food drive as well as a toy drive during the holiday season.
