Cranston Arsonist Apprehended: Cops
The arsonist was captured after a traffic crash in Providence, the state police said.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Cranston man wanted on an arson charge was arrested Saturday, police said.
Joel Tavarez, 42, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. following a crash on Interstate 95 in Providence, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.
The arson charge was connected to a Pawtucket Police Department case, according to the media release.

"Tavarez was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and then turned over to the Pawtucket Police Department.," the release said.
The Pawtucket police did not immediately respond to a request for additional information on the case.
