Hells Angels Leader Arrested, Charged With Felony Assault

Joseph Lancia, the leader of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was arrested by Rhode Island State Police and charged with felony assault.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The leader of the Hells Angels motorcycle club was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with felony assault. Joseph Lancia, 28, of Fanning Lane in Greenville, was arrested by Rhode Island State Police at the Providence clubhouse following reports that shots were fired in the area.

Gunfire was reported in the area of the Messer Street around 1:40 p.m., police said. Officers also searched the clubhouse during the investigation.

Lancia was arrested without incident and taken to Rhode Island State Police headquarters, where he was processed and will be held overnight. He will be arraigned Thursday in Sixth District Court in Providence on charges of felony assault.

The investigation is ongoing, police said and Lancia could be charged with additional crimes as the investigation continues.
