Johnson & Wales University Going Mask Optional
The university will still require masks on Wildcat Wheels transportation and in health services offices.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Johnson & Wales University will no longer require mass on campus, effective Friday, school officials said.
"The university has made the decision that it is an appropriate time to amend some of our protocols," said University President Marie Bernardo-Sousa in a statement. "As we see COVID-19 cases across the country steadily decline and as more of our population becomes fully vaccinated, the university has decided that as of Friday, March 18, mask-wearing, regardless of an individual’s vaccination status, will be optional on our campus and will no longer be required inside or outside buildings."
Johnson & Wales was one of two Rhode Island colleges to change their mask policies this week. Rhode Island College campus officials on Tuesday said masks will become optional on campus, beginning March 21.

Bernardo-Sousa said students and staff on campus are still advised to wear a mask if they choose to. KN95 masks are recommended for those that continue to wear one.
She also encouraged all students, faculty and staff to continue carrying a mask in the case they find themselves in a crowded environment.
