MA Man Facing Fentanyl Trafficking Charges After Providence Arrest

Prosecutors say Enmanuel Moran Gomez​, 24, was caught with 75 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, 31.8 grams of fentanyl power, and more.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Massachusetts man is facing drug trafficking charges after he was caught in Providence with fentanyl pills, powder, cocaine, and a gun, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Tuesday.

Enmanuel Moran Gomez, 24, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, was charged on Aug. 4, in Providence County Superior Court with possession of one ounce to one kilogram of fentanyl, possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possessing a firearm with intent to deliver cocaine and fentanyl, and two counts of possessing a large-capacity magazine.

Prosecutors said in late 2022, into January 2023, Providence police began a drug distribution investigation into Gomez. According to prosecutors, police conducted surveillance of a home on Union Street and saw Gomez selling drugs. Prosecutors said undercover detectives also purchased drugs from Gomez.

On Jan. 26, authorities searched the Union Street home, arrested Gomez, and seized 75 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, 31.8 grams of fentanyl power, 1.3 grams of cocaine, a semi-automatic handgun equipped with a 12-round magazine loaded with 10 rounds, one fully loaded 18-round magazine, $1,646 in cash, and drug paraphernalia, prosecutors said.

Gomez is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 1 in Providence County Superior Court.
