PROVIDENCE, RI — The man accused of robbing a Providence strip club for more than $20,000 in one-dollar bills appeared in court on Tuesday morning, court records show.

Jontay Goode is being held without bail after he was charged with first degree robbery after reports say he entered the Cadillac Lounge with a gun before making off the money. He was arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

WPRI was the first to report the story, indicating that Jontay Goode, 30, faces an armed robbery charge after walking into the Cadillac Lounge, pointing a gun at the manager's head and demanding money.

The report said that the manager was told to open a safe by Goode, who was masked, and hand the money over to him. Management said Goode seemed to be aware of the building's layout, and which safe had the most money in it, according to WPRI.

WPRI reports that roughly $22,000 was taken, however, the Boston Globe, citing owner Dick Shappy, said it was more than $25,000.
