Mayor Elorza Announces “Parents’ Night Off PVD” With Extended Hours At Recreation Centers Citywide

Centers will open from 3PM until 11PM and offer free childcare, fun programming to allow parents to prepare for the holidays

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge Elorza announced the return of “Parents’ Night Off PVD,” an initiative that provides parents a night to prepare for the holiday season with extended hours at all recreation centers on Friday, December 20. Centers will be open from 3:00PM until 11:00PM and provide a safe place for children to have fun while their parents are away.

“We are sharing holiday cheer with Providence parents by giving them a break from their busy schedules to prepare before the holiday,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “Our parents are doing the best they can to spend quality time with their loved ones this season and we want to support them with some extra time to shop and wrap gifts if they need it.”

Centers will offer snacks and programming for children ages 5-15, including sports activities, arts and crafts, board games and movies at some of the larger recreation centers- all at no cost to families. No registration is required, but parents are advised to contact their nearest recreation center to get details on programming offered.
