Man Killed In Providence Multi-Car Crash Identified

Police said the dump truck t-boned a sedan, killing Frank Perry Jr. and leaving another severely injured.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A multiple vehicle crash Monday involving two cars and a landscape company's dump truck has left one man dead.

Police Monday afternoon identified the victim as Frank Perry Jr., 28, of Providence. Police said an adult passenger in Perry's car remains hospitalized in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

The crash happened at about 12:30 a.m., Monday morning at the intersection of Valley Street and Atwells Avenue.

Police said the dump truck t-boned a sedan, killing Perry and leaving another severely injured. No one from the third vehicle involved in the crash was hurt, but police told WPRI 12 it wasn't clear how that vehicle became part of the crash.

A witness told the Providence Journal that the driver of the dump truck ran into a nearby gas station crying. The driver was brought to the ground by multiple bystanders until police arrested him.
