'Our Community Mourns': 15-Year-Old Shot, Killed In Providence
Mayor Jorge Elorza released a statement on Sunday morning, stating that an investigation into the Saturday killing is ongoing.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed over the weekend in Providence, Mayor Jorge Elorza confirmed on Sunday.
"Last night, Providence experienced a tragic loss when a teenage boy was shot and killed," said Elorza. "Our community mourns for his family, friends and our community who will all be impacted by this senseless act of violence. This matter is still under investigation and if anyone has any information regarding what happened, please contact the Providence Police."
Reports say that Ger’Vontae Tilson was shot on Wallace Street late Saturday night. He was found in a driveway on the street, and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to WJAR, Tilson's mother, Marisol, confirmed that he was killed on Saturday.
