Providence Child In Foster Care Dies, State Officials Investigating

PROVIDENCE, RI — State officials are investigating the death of a child in foster care in Providence, The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) said Tuesday.

DCYF officials told NBC 10 the child died Friday, and it's coordinating an investigation with Providence police.

The circumstances surround the child's death are unknown, officials said. DCYF officials told WPRI 12 thy are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
