Providence Food Stamp Fraud Pinched: Police

The Providence woman was also charged with fraudulently obtaining a credit card, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence woman fraudulently used food stamps, police said.

Dajuana Purdie, 59, was arrested shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday by Rhode Island state troopers, police said.

Purdie was charged with obtaining Money by false pretense, fraudulent use of a credit card, obtaining a credit card through fraudulent means and fraudulent use of food stamps, according to police.

"This arrest was the result of a barracks investigation, and the Providence Police Department subsequently located Purdie," the state police said.

"Purdie was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.," the state police said.
