Providence Nursing Home Catches Fire, 1 Man Hospitalized

The fire started in a fourth-floor bedroom at Charlesgate Nursing Center, according to Providence fire officials.

PROVIDENCE, RI — One person was hospitalized Wednesday after a Providence nursing home caught fire, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were called to Charlesgate Nursing Center at 100 Randall St., around 10:30 a.m., after reports of smoke in a bedroom on the fourth-floor.

Fire officials said a man in his 60s was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to treat smoke inhalation.
