Rhode Island Superior Court Judge Richard Licht Hit By Car

Judge Richard Licht was taken to Rhode Island Hospital ​and was in critical condition after being hit outside the Rhode Island State House.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Superior Court Judge Richard Licht was hit by a car outside the Rhode Island State House on Wednesday evening, according to police.

Providence police told WPRI 12 Licht was struck on Smith Street just after 6 p.m. by a woman driving a yellow Jeep. Police told the television station the woman remained on scene and was allowed to drive away about two hours after the crash.

Licht was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and was in critical but stable condition on Wednesday night, ABC 6 reported.

As of Wednesday night, no charges had been pressed against the driver.
