RI Man Accused Of Killing Dog After It Urinated On Bed: Report

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Rhode Island man is behind bars following accusations that he killed his girlfriend's small dog. Police eventually found the little dog's body in a shopping bag, multiple news outlets report.

Devon Hernandez, 29, of Providence, has been charged with malicious injury to or killing of animals, The Providence Journal confirms. Police arrested him Thursday, with his arraignment scheduled the following day.

According to a police report, Hernandez picked up the small dog, slammed it to the floor and repeatedly kicked it after it urinated on the bed, WLNE reports.

Surveillance video at the apartment later shows Hernandez carrying the dog's lifeless body outside of the complex.

Police ultimately found the dog's body in a shopping bag near a street intersection, according to the TV station.

Meanwhile, Hernandez has denied killing the dog and told police that it ran off after he took it outside, the newspaper reports.
