RI State Police Release Photos Of Man Involved In Roe Rally Violence

The Rhode Island State Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who was at the scene of the recent violence.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island State Police are seeking public assistance in locating a man involved in the recent violence at a Roe V. Wade rally.

State Police released four images of a man at the scene on Friday morning.

“Our investigation into the incident at the State House is ongoing and we’re asking members of the public to look at these pictures and see if the individual looks familiar,” said Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety.

“If you have any information, please call our Lincoln Barracks at (401) 444-1000. Tips are received anonymously.”

Providence police officer and one-time State Senate candidate Jeann Lugo is charged with assault and disorderly conduct after video showed him punching political opponent Jennifer Rourke, a fellow candidate, at the abortion rights rally.

The video, captured by journalist Bill Bartholomew, has been viewed nearly 5 million times on Twitter since Friday, and has initiated statements from Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee.

Lugo was arrested by Rhode Island State Police troopers in Warwick, officials said. State police confirmed that the arrest was a result of what happened at the protest.
