Segue approved for grade reconfiguration
Segue granted approval by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) for reconfiguration of additional grades.

Segue Institute for Learning, a middle-level charter school serving students in Central Falls, Rhode Island, today announced it has been granted approval by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) for reconfiguration of additional grades.
The approval allows the charter school to increase the number of grades without increasing enrollment. Segue will reduce the number of students per grade from 80 to 40.
"This move to increase the grades that we serve is monumental for us here at Segue,” said Segue Founder and Executive Director Angelo Garcia. “The admin team here at school worked very closely with RIDE staff to turn around the information they needed so that a decision could be made. Segue now gets to meet work our scholars earlier and in younger grades which gets them on the road to success sooner. We couldn't be more excited for this opportunity."

Segue’s student body mirrors that of the Central Falls public schools with an 87% bilingual population (dominantly Spanish-speaking) and 85% eligibility for free or reduced lunches. Since the school opened, ninety percent of Segue graduates do not return to the traditional public school, instead practice their choice of attending alternative settings from an extensive menu of high schools.
Founded in 2006 and opened in 2009, Segue Institute for Learning features high academic rigor, small class sizes, individualized attention, strong board and parental involvement, and intensive community partnerships. The school was conceived by people who grew up, currently reside in, or have significant ties to the Central Falls community. Segue recognizes its students as "AT PROMISE" versus being considered "AT RISK".
Segue, selected as the 2013-2014 RIASCD Whole Child Recognition School, helps students achieve academic excellence and be better prepared for high school, college, and the work force.
Initial entrance lottery is held every year on March 1st, or the first business day after if March 1st falls on a weekend. For the 2018-2019 school year, scholars applying for grades 5 and 6 will participate in the initial entrance lottery. Next year, the lottery will accept students applying for grades 4 and 5 for the 2019-2020 school year. In 2020, the lottery will accept applicants for grades 3 and 4 for the 2020-2012 school year. In 2021 and future years, all lotteries will be for grade 3 students only.
Any student applying for entry into a grade not specifically intended by the lottery or any scholar who applies after March 1st will be placed on a waiting list. All students on the waiting list will be offered entry into Segue on a "first come, first serve basis" once an opening becomes available.
Segue is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 AM till 5:30 PM and Friday from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM. For more information and enrollment applications, call 401-721-0964 or visit www.segueifl.org.
