Not Registered? You Can Vote For Prez/VP (Only!)
Rhode Island state law allows people who have not registered to vote to cast a ballot for the top office at Town Hall.

Yes, Virginia, you can vote for president on Election Day even if you didn't register.
According to Rhode Island General Law 17-1-3, people who missed the voter registration dealine may vote for president/vice president only at their local Board of Canvassers on Election Day.
In Smithfield, that spot's at City Hall, 64 Farnum Pike, on the second floor. "If you are not a registered voter you can come in tomorrow," said Janet Prairie at the Town Clerk's office. People will have to fill out a form at the polling spot before casting their ballot.

That polling place will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Prairie said. There is also elevator access to the second floor, she said.
