Obituary: Joan Grist, 74

Joan L. Grist passed away on Friday, Dec. 27 at the age of 74 in Lehigh Acres, FL, where she had lived for the past 15 years. Prior to that, Grist lived in Greenville an Johnson. She leaves behind her husband, David I. Grist.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ettie (Richards) Fortin. She worked at Amica Insurance in Providence and also as a jewelry assembler. She was an administrative assistant at her husband's business for many years and was a former member of the Greenville Junior Women's Club.

Besides her husband, she leaves behind her children – Donald Grist of Smithfield, David Grist Jr. of Warwick and Kevin Grist of Taunton. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of Ettie Courtemanche of Johnston and Dennis Fortin of VT. She was the sister of the late Raymond Fortin, Jr. 

Her funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Interment will be in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation is Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice, 1201 Wings Way, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
