Route 146 Fatal Crash: Two Killed: State Police

Two people died and a third was seriously hurt in an early morning crash Tuesday.

SMITHFIELD, RI — Two people were killed and a third person was injured in an early morning crash on Route 146, according to Rhode Island state police. The accident happened around 2:10 a.m. State Police Captain Matthew Moynihan said the car was headed north on Route 146 when it went off the road and into the grassy median. It hit a guard rail, rolled over several times and ejected all three people.

Karissa Harrison, 24, of Johnston, and Henry Feliz, 30, of Providence, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third person was transported by North Smithfield Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. His name has not been released.

Captain Moynihan said it is unclear who was driving at the time of the crash. Speed appears to be a factor. None of the occupants was wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by troopers from the Rhode Island State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and Scituate Barracks.
