BURRILLVILLE, RI—A woman with Huntington's disease was one of two patients abused by a nursing assistant at the Slater Hospital, Zambarano Unit, the state Attorney General's Office said Wednesday. The nursing assistant, Linda Proietti, 42, of Danielson, Conn., was convicted Tuesday after a week-long trial in Providence Superior Court. She was charged with one count of felony patient abuse in a healthcare facility and two counts of misdemeanor patient abuse in a healthcare facility, the Attorney General's office said.

According to court papers, Proietti verbally and physically assaulted a male patient who was described as "non-verbal and immobile." She was also convicted of verbally abusing a woman patient, described as non-verbal. The incidents happened between Aug. 1, 2015 and Jan. 25, 2016.

Proietti was released on $5,000 surety bail and will be sentenced May 25.
