SMITHFIELD, RI—Police are doing their best to fight the opioid epidemic. According to the department's website, Chief Richard P. St.Sauveur, Jr., has established a new policy which authorizes Smithfield officers to carry and administer Narcan. The drug, which is administered as a nasal spray, can save people who would otherwise die of an overdose.
