Tearing Up I-95, Police Allege, He's Facing DUI

State police arrested five drivers overnight for Driving under the influence. The one traveling 100 mph left the highway in Coventry.

COVENTRY, RI — State police charged five people overnight with driving under the influence. The arrests included a Norwich, Connecticut man who allegedly was traveling 111 mph on I-95. Another suspect was in a one-car accident, police said. Here are the arrests per the press release.

Sterley Delmas, age 25, of Norwich, CT, was arrested around 2:40 a.m. today after troopers spotted a car travelling on Interstate 95 North at a recorded speed of 111 miles an hour. Delmas was arrested after his car exited the highway on Route 3 in Coventry. He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs; refusal to submit to a chemical test; and reckless driving to elude or flee from a police officer. He also was issued several other motor vehicle violations. He was held overnight, pending arraignment in Third Division District Court.

David Thy, age 34, of Attleboro, Mass., was arrested around 2:05 a.m. today after a park ranger reported a disabled motor vehicle at the entrance to Lincoln Woods State Park. Troopers responded and arrested Thy for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs with a blood-alcohol content greater than .15 percent (Phase I: .159; Phase 2: .154). He also was cited for several motor vehicle violations. He was arraigned before a justice of the peace and released, pending further court action.

Matthew Bellows, age 28, of Cumberland, was arrested around 1:05 a.m. today after troopers received a call for a motorist operating erratically in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295, near Exit 7 in Smithfield. He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs with a blood-alcohol content of .10 to .15 percent (Phase I: .131; Phase II: .129). He was arraigned before a justice of the peace and released, pending further court action.

Amber Farrell, age 23, of Warwick, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. today after troopers stopped her for a motor vehicle violation on East Avenue in Warwick. She was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and refusal to submit to a chemical test. She also was issued several other motor vehicle violations. She was arraigned before a justice of the peace and released, pending further court action.

Dylan J. Cahill, age 24, of Cumberland, was arrested around 11:05 p.m. last night after police responded to a report of a one-car accident on Route 146 north, near Admiral Street. He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He also was issued several other motor vehicle violations. He was arraigned before a justice of the peace and released, pending further court action.
