Whole Foods Recalls Mislabelled Lobster Bisque

A batch of Whole Foods soup labeled and sold as roasted garlic and eggplant is actually lobster bisque — a packaging error that could be serious or fatal for people with shellfish allergies.

Because of the mistake, Whole Foods Market is recalling the soup, which was sold in six states including in Rhode Island. 

Whole Foods operates a market in nearby Garden City Center in Cranston.

This soup could cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions to those allergic to shellfish or milk, according to the FDA.

The soup was sold in 24-ounce cans in Whole Foods in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey between Sept. 29-Oct. 2 this year. The sell-by date is Oct. 4, 2012.
