TIVERTON, RI — A cyclist was injured in a collision with a motor vehicle on Main Road in Tiverton Wednesday evening, police said.
The man on the bicycle was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence following the collision shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Main Road south of Nanaquaket Road, the Tiverton Police Department said in a media release.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that a northbound vehicle operated by a 23-year-old Tiverton woman struck the bicyclist as he was preparing to turn left from the roadway," the release said. "The operator remained on scene and cooperated fully with investigators."

Witnesses also stopped to help the injured cyclist, according to the release.
"The Tiverton Police Department would like to thank the civilians who immediately stopped to assist and provide emergency aid prior to the arrival of rescue personnel," the release said.

No arrests were made in connection with the crash.
"At this time, no charges have been filed. The crash remains under active investigation by the Tiverton Police Department," the release said.

Police asked witnesses or those with information on the crash to call the department at 401-625-6717.
