Author and retired commercial real estate professional, Bernard J. Kane of Tiverton, Dies at 78

Bernard J. Kane, Jr. 78, of Tiverton, died Tuesday, Feb.  8, 2011. He was the loving husband of Lois C. (Johnson) Kane.

Mr. Kane worked in commercial real estate for First National Stores, Pneumodynamics Corp and Purity Supreme Stores for 35 years before retiring in 1990. Previously he resided in Framingham and Sudbury, both in Massachusetts.

Mr. Kane was born April 29, 1932 in Marlboro, MA. He was the son of the late Marion E. (Miller) Kane and the late Bernard J. Kane. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School, Class of 1949.

Mr. Kane served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He went on to attend Boston University, receiving his Masters Degree in 1959.

Mr. and Mrs. Kane celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 24, 2008. Mr. Kane enjoyed traveling the world with Mrs. Kane, and was an avid fisherman, gardener and enjoyed reading, particularly history. Mr. Kane was also a published author.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Brian D. and his partner Jose-Luis Guerrero-Cusumano of Washington, D.C., Evan J. and his wife Jennifer E. Kane of Upton, MA, Barry T. and his wife Christine L. Kane of Manchester, NH; five grandchildren; Meghan H. Kane, Madeline E. Kane, Emma G. Kane, Braden J. Kane and Joseph M. Kane; his sisters Barbara H. Ricci and Marilyn L. King, both of Marlboro, MA and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

His Private Arrangements are in the care of the WARING-SULLIVAN HOMES OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE, Fall River.
