MIA DYSON BAND and BECKY CHACE BAND
7 pm, doors open 6:30 pm
$18 at the door
Aussie blues/roots rocker and songwriter MIA DYSON grew up in a sleepy surf town on Australia’s southern coast, the daughter of a custom guitar maker. She is now a hard-charging road warrior who has headlined countless shows in Australia, Europe, the U.S. and Canada, played festivals worldwide, been nominated four times for an ARIA (the Australian Grammy), and toured with Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, and Joe Cocker. Her album "Parking Lots" won Best Blues & Roots Album at the 2005 ARIA Awards. Mia's whisky-tinged voice has invited comparisons to Lucinda Williams and even Bob Dylan and the Boss.
Mia has an extraordinary depth of passion in her voice, a soulful feel for both electric and lap slide guitars, and the kind of songwriting maturity that makes her a special kind of triple threat.
Her new release, "The Moment," is the most gutsy and revealing album of her life. Click here for a taste of the life-affirming, heart-pounding joy of forging ahead captured by Mia in the track "When The Moment Comes."
Roots rocker BECKY CHACE will knock you over with her voice. Her band, including longtime sidekick and ace guitarist Brian Minisce, will help you get back up and stand at attention. Becky recently released her brand new CD, "Rise and Fall," at a sold-out Sandywoods show. "Rise and Fall" is receiving high praise from fans and critics alike.
Becky believes in the power of music. When playing live, she is always present in the moment, enjoying the connection of community that only music can create. A throwback to the artists of the 60's and 70's who had intimate acoustic country ballads on the same records with blues, rock, and pop, The Worcester Telegram has called Becky a "steamy cauldron of music, purveying the sort of countrified roots/folk rock that hits with a gritty, earthy edge."
What people talk about most when it comes to Becky’s music is her powerful voice. She has been compared to Melissa Etheridge, Lucinda Williams, and Bonnie Raitt.
