Barksfield Botanicals Expands in Nonquit Grange

Barksfield Botanicals, which sells art, organics and antiques, is expanding into the second floor of the historic Nonquit Grange at the Mill Pond shops in Tiverton.

Along with the expansion comes the Picklee Annex — a place where you’ll find vintage furniture and “redefined home furnishing,” said Michele Jalbert, owner.

“The Nonquit Grange has a storied history of wonderful shops and art galleries. We are looking to honor that heritage and fill the second floor with unique artisan finds, handmade goods, art, antiques and other one-of-a-kind items for the holidays,” Jalbert said.

Barksfield Botanicals opened last spring, offering shoppers nature-inspured art, organic soaps and skin care products and environmentally responsible cleaning supplies. As it grew, the notion of adding antiques ”just worked, given the beautifully restore grange space,” Jalbert said.

Jalbert said she’s also delighted to welcome Lisa Kasap, who works with CeCe Caldwell paints to refurbish furniture for sale in the shop.

CeCe Caldwell offers all-natural chalk and clay paint, which is nontoxic and needs no sanding or priming and will be for sale in the shop in more than 30 colors.

Kasap and her daughter, Jordan Reilly, own Picklee on Spring in Newport, which won a Best of Rhode Island award from Rhode Island Monthly recently.

Barksfield Botanicals, which is located at 3964 Main Road, Tiverton, will be open Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday noon-5 during the holiday season.
