Amicable Church Community Speaker Series on Ticks, Lyme Disease, Co-Infections

Event Details
With Lyme disease and tick-borne illnesses continuing to pose a significant public health concern throughout New England, this educational event will provide community members with valuable information about prevention, treatment, and available resources.
The featured speaker will be Mary Lorusso-DiBara, co-founder and President of the Northeast Lyme and Associated Diseases Resource Foundation. Drawing from both her professional expertise and personal experience, Mary will share insights into the realities of Lyme disease and associated illnesses. Mary, her five siblings, and additional family members have all been diagnosed, affected by, or treated for Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.
According to public health data, Rhode Island has one of the highest rates of Lyme disease per capita in the nation, and emergency department visits related to tick bites have recently surged to their highest level since 2017. This presentation aims to equip attendees with accurate information and practical tools to protect themselves and their families.
Topics will include:
•Myths and misinformation surrounding Lyme disease
•Prevention strategies and treatment options
•Resources to help individuals connect with appropriate care and support
"This program reflects our commitment to providing meaningful educational opportunities that address issues impacting our community," said church representatives. "We are pleased to welcome Mary Lorusso-DiBara and share this important information with residents throughout the region."
