Susan E. Anderson, a member of the Tiverton Historic Preservation Advisory Board and the Tiverton Historical Society, will give a powerpoint presentation with period maps explaining the importance of the Revolutionary War Redoubt (fort) which became known as Fort Barton.
From her research of the diaries and journals written at the time of the Battle of Rhode Island, Ms. Anderson will portray both Col. William Barton of the Continental Army and Captain Frederick MacKenzie of the British forces depicting the history of the fort and the capture of British Gen. Prescott in the words of the soldiers who were there.
After her presentation, Ms. Anderson will lead a walk up to the Fort Barton Redoubt.
