Little Compton Historical Society Annual Meeting

All Historical Society members are invited to attend the meeting and vote for a new slate of officers and Board Members. The general public is also invited to attend to enjoy the presentation to follow. The business meeting will be brief and will be followed at approximately 7:15 by a panel of local speakers, who will present an assortment of entertaining and sometimes surprising personal recollections of Sakonnet Point in decades past. Following the speakers, the audience will be invited
to share their Sakonnet Point stories as well. Each of the stories will be recorded and
archived at the Historical Society.

Speakers include Dick Rogers, Hilary Woodhouse, Nate Atwater, and Tony Philippi who
will speak on the Fo’c’s’le, sailing and swordfishing among other topics.

The talk is offered in conjunction with the Historical Society’s current special exhibition “Sakonnet Point Perspectives” which was created in partnership with the
Sakonnet Preservation Association and the Friends of the Sakonnet Lighthouse. It traces the history of Sakonnet Point and includes oral histories from over 40 members of the community.

The annual meeting is free and open to the general public. Refreshments will be served and the “Sakonnet Point Perspective” book will be available for sale that evening at

Foundation. It is open to the public Thursday – Sunday from 1 to 5 PM at the Wilbor House.
