Winter Growing with Movable Greenhouses at Roots Farm

Roots Farm is one of the few farms in Rhode Island with movable greenhouses. Mike and Kelli will discuss the advantages and uses of movable houses and low tunnels for winter growing. Attendees will learn how to (and help) move the two houses that day, weather permitting.

Roots Farm is a certified organic, diversified vegetable farm in Tiverton, RI with a focus on year-round growing using only the sun for heat. Through the winter, cold-hardy crops are grown in unheated, movable greenhouse and low tunnels. In the spring, a wide range of vegetables get a head start in the greenhouse and low tunnels. This farm produces nutrient-dense, delicious crops for customers. Roots Farm is committed to sustainable farming, and never uses chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

This Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) workshop shares farmer experiences and best practices with farmers, farm workers, apprentices and gardeners. Everyone is welcome. This event is free. Registration is not required.
