Fire Destroys Little Compton Home

Three people were inside the home when the fire started, and one person was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

LITTLE COMPTON, RI — A fire destroyed a cottage in Little Compton on Monday morning, according to fire officials.

Around 1:30 a.m., firefighters were called to the home on Bailey's Ledge Road. The home was fully engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.

Three people were inside the home when the fire started, and one person was treated on scene for smoke inhalation, fire officials said. The home was deemed a total loss.

The East Bay Tanker Task Force was activated, with mutual aid coming from Tiverton, Westport, Middletown, Warren and Rehoboth, Massachusetts. A Portsmouth engine company established a water supply at the draft site at the Sakonnet Golf Club, and a Bristol engine responded for manpower and station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
