Man who Robbed CVS at Knifepoint also Robbed Bank in July, Police Say
Tiverton police worked with Bank Newport employees to identify a July bank robber as a man arrested last week for robbing a town CVS.
A man recently arrested for robbing a Tiverton CVS at knifepoint is facing even more charges after detectives connected him to a July bank robbery, also in Tiverton.
Police said John Barboza, 50, of 5 Cushing Drive, Wrentham, was arrested on Aug. 29 after he robbed the CVS at 500 Main Road and fled with cash and prescription drugs.
After his arrest, detectives worked with employees of the Bank Newport at 614 Main Road and were able to identify him as being responsible for that robbery.

Barboza was arraigned on Tuesday in Newport County District Court on an additional charge of second-degree robbery and remains held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
Both cases have been referred to the attorney general.

“The clearance of these two serious crimes would not have been possible without your cooperation and the partnership we share with our local businesses. Our thanks for your role in stopping this individual before he harmed others, himself, or our community any further,” police said in a statement.
