One-Act Play Performance Has America's Veterans in Mind

A state production of Sophocles' Ajax will have a Tiverton leg.

A Rhode Island production of the Greek tragedy Ajax, hosted by the Pell Center at Salve Regina University, will premiere on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.

The Providence Journal reported that the performance will run for three consecutive nights at the Newport school before progressing to other locations in the state, including a performance at the Sandywoods Center for the Arts in Tiverton on Tuesday, Nov. 18. All shows are at 7 p.m.

The production is titled Ajax: A Community Conversation About Returning Veterans, as displayed on the school’s event calendar. After the performance of Ajax, which is a one-act Sophocles play about revenge and war, there will be a community conversation about the issues facing veterans of America’s recent wars.
