Saturday Storm: How Much Are We Getting and When Will it Start?

The latest weather forecast shows a coastal storm that may bring heavy snow to parts of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Tiverton and Little Compton will bring in a mix of rain and freezing rain that will turn into snow showers early Saturday night, according to Weather.com. Winds could gust up to 40 mph.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm alert that will be in effect from late Friday to Saturday evening.

The Northwestern part of Rhode Island may get hit with six or more inches of snow that could accumulate within a 12-hour span, the alert said.

Residents should be cautious when driving and be on the lookout for large branches and wires that could be brought down by the snow. Visibility may be one quarter mile or less at times during the storm, the alert reports.
