girls' basketball visited on Wednesday in the league opener for both squads. The Tigers 11-point first half lead dwindled down to four in the second half, but Tiverton made a few clutch hoops while the Bolts couldn't buy a basket, and Tiverton took the 35-25 victory.

Zoeigh Rodrigues had a lay-up to start off the game for Cranston East, but Tiverton went on a 15-2 following the bucket. Kelsey Evje kept the Thunderbolts in the game with a couple threes and eight points following the Tiverton run. But the Bolts still trailed by 10 at halftime, 22-12.

"We missed a ton of chances at the end. Contested shots, but point blank. At that point it was a close game and if we make a couple of those it really changes how we can approach things," Cranston East Coach Richard Glover said.

The Bolts will face off against Tollgate on Friday, looking to make some improvements.

"We need to have a little more intensity on defense for the whole game. And we need to have a little more patience and execution on offense," said Glover.
