Tiverton Fire Chief Warns Of Scam
"If someone calls to ask you to be generous to the fire department, just say no", Fire Chief Robert Lloyd said.
According to Chief Robert Lloyd there are phone calls and letters going around asking people to donate to the fire department. The calls and letters are coming from the Firefighters Charitable Foundation of Farmingdale, New York. “I’ve never heard of these guys,” Lloyd said. ”They might be legitimate, I don’t know. But they have nothing to do with us.”
Chief Lloyd added, “The fire department does not do any fundraising. We rely on the money the town residents are kind enough to appropriate to us in the budget. I’m concerned people will be taken in and give money that they think will be going to their municipality. They are not.”
He welcomes all calls and concerns.
