Tiverton Fire Department Marks 3,000 Calls In 2019

The department has responded to 3,000 emergency calls this year alone.

TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton firefighters reached an impressive milestone on Wednesday. A little after 3 p.m., the department responded to its 3,000th emergency call of 2019.

The landmark call wasn't actually in Tiverton, instead a request for mutual aid assistance at a structure fire in Little Compton. Besides offering mutual aid, the department responded to several other calls throughout the day.

The department has responded to a wide variety of calls so far this year, including the rescue of three people from a capsized boat in May and a fire on a small boat in early September.
