Tiverton Girls' Lacrosse Remains Undefeated; Boys' Tennis Seeks Playoff Spot
Taking a look back at the week in Tiverton High School sports.
While rain played havoc last week with high school sports teams throughout Rhode Island, it did little to deter the continued successes of the softball and girls’ lacrosse squads at . The Tigers remained undefeated in girls’ lacrosse and moved one step closer to a high postseason seed in softball.
Tiverton’s boys’ tennis combine won twice last week to solidifying its hopes for a playoff spot.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE (12-0)

The Tigers erupted late, scoring 10 goals in the second half en route to a 14-3 Division II thrashing of Chariho Regional High School. Tiverton shut down Warwick Veterans High School in a earlier in the week.
SOFTBALL (9-3)

The Tigers pounded out 20 hits and scored in bunches in four separate innings to whip host Moses Brown School of Providence, 15-4, in a Division II-East clash. Rachel Pimental ignited the Tiverton assault with 4 hits and 3 runs batted in, while Jessica Drolet added 2 hits and 2 RBI and pitched a complete game, striking out 8 batters.
BOYS’ TENNIS (7-5)
The Tigers clipped Mount Hope Regional, 5-2, in a critical contest in Bristol, moving into sole possession of third place in the Division III-South standings. Jordan Darkow (6-0, 6-1) and Dan Tierney (7-5, 6-2) earned singles’ victories for Tiverton and the Tigers swept the doubles’ tilts behind Tom O’Hara-Andrew Sampaio (6-3, 6-2), Matt Correia-Robert Walsh (6-2, 6-1) and Travis Doumaney-Willie Blake (forfeit).
One day earlier, Tiverton earned a key victory in its quest to land a playoff spot, overcoming Mt. Hope Regional, 4-3, at home in a Division III-South match suspended earlier this season because of inclement weather. Darkow (6-2, 6-3) was the only Tiger to win a singles’ match, but Tiverton swept the doubles’ contests with O’Hara- Sampaio (6-4, 7-5), Correia-Walsh (6-1, 6-2) and Alex Rosa-Blake (forfeit).
BASEBALL (4-12)
In their only outing of the week, the Tigers squandered an early two-run advantage and bowed at home to South Kingstown High, 7-4, in a Division I battle.
BOYS’ LACROSSE (1-9)
Tiverton failed to hold a one-goal lead at halftime and lost to host Narragansett High, 9-5, in a Division III contest. Adam Lavoie and Jake Albernaz both scored 2 goals for the Tigers, Tyler Farias added 1 goal and keeper Evan McGreavey turned aside 8 shots.
GOLF (0-11)
The Tigers bowed to Portsmouth High (151-214) and East Providence High (183-214) in a three-team competition staged at the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth. Lucas Munafo carded a 47 to pace the Tigers, who also scored with Matt Amaral (52), Kacy Fernandes (57) and Mike Pacheco (58).
