Tiverton Man Charged Assault, Armed Robbery in Brutal Attack
Police said Zachary Leroy, 21, of Tiverton, beat a man with a baseball bat and stole his wallet after a fight over an ex-girlfriend.

Police charged Zachary Leroy, 21, of Tiverton, with first-degree armed robbery and felony assault on Monday for allegedly beating a 19-year-old man with a baseball bat before stealing his wallet and cash.
Police said the incident occurred on Aug. 23 when police were dispatched to a Main Road address where they found the victim bleeding from the head.
The victim told police he was attacked by Leroy, who apparently was upset that the victim was going to be hanging out with his former girlfriend.

After beating him with the bat, police said, Leroy demanded his wallet and cash.
The victim was treated at the hospital for serious injuries.

Leroy was ordered held without bail as a probation violator.
Leroy was reportedly picked up on Monday after an officer on patrol saw him riding as a passenger in a car.
