Tiverton Man Charged with Domestic Assault

Little Compton police charged a 28-year-old Tiverton man with domestic assault Sunday after he turned himself in to police when he learned there was a warrant for his arrest.

Police said Joseph A. Correia, of 78 Fish Road, assaulted a woman on Friday night.

Police were dispatched to a Colebrook Road address at around 5:38 p.m. for a report of a domestic assault.

The investigation determined that a woman had been assaulted and Correia was the suspect.

He had reportedly fled the scene before police arrived and officers were unable to locate him immediately afterwards.

Police said Correia eventually found out about the warrant and turned himself in at around 5:06 p.m. Sunday night.

Correia was due to be arraigned at a later date.
