Tiverton Police Officers Spread Love This Valentine's Day

During traffic stops on Wednesday, Tiverton officers distributed gift certificates and chocolates to unsuspecting residents.

TIVERTON, R.I. -- Love was in the air in Tiverton on Wednesday as officers distributed chocolate and gift cards to unsuspecting drivers during traffic stops.

"Congratulations to our great citizens--our new friends--who received gift cards and visits today. We are still out looking to make today and Valentine's Day a better one for you," read a post on the department's Facebook page.

The department announced on Tuesday that officers would be giving out the gifts randomly throughout the day, including a $150 gift card for Twin River Casino Hotel Tiverton at Trattoria Romana, a gift card for a beginner ski or snow board lesson at Gunstock Mountain Resort and a 7 p.m. reservation at Sakonnet River Grille with a $100 dinner credit. Officers also visited local businesses with Dunkin' Donuts coffee and donuts.
