Tiverton Softball All-Stars Defeat Riverside, Play Portsmouth Tonight in Dist. 2 Finals [Video]

The Tiverton Little League Softball Majors continues to roll. After winning a hard fought game against , Riverside came to town farm on Tuesday evening, July 5. Tiverton won the coin toss making them the home team for the fourth straight game.
Tiverton took the game 5-2 and compete in the District 2 championship game against Portsmouth on tonight at 5:45 p.m. at Glen Field at Glen Park in Portsmouth. This game is expected to be a battle as Portsmouth is a great team.
In the third inning of Tuesday's game, Cleo Allen and Stevie-Rae Travers got their second hits of the game in as many at bats and were driven home by a double off the bat of Lauren Bamonte. Alyssa Silveira kept East Providence hitless through the first four innings. In the fourth inning, Tiverton's bats came alive again with hits by Alyssa Silveira, Lilliana Kenyon and Stevie-Rae Travers. Kayla Paull drove in two runs giving Tiverton a 4-0 lead going into the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, Katelyn Farias crushed a triple and was then sent home by a hit off the bat of Alyssa Silveira giving Tiverton a 5-0 lead. Lilliana Kenyon added another single but was left stranded on base. Riverside got on the board after Lexi Sargo hit a single and stole second and was then sent home on another single by Jenna Lopes. A great heads up play by the girls knocked Lopes off first with a misread infield hit and after Tiverton First baseman Megan Silveira slapped the tag on Lopes. Alyssa Silveira dominated much of the night keeping Riversides batters at bay.
The Riverside girls played a great game with some of their notable players being Jenna Lopes, Grace Senra and Lexi Sargo.
