Vehicle Loses Control, Smashes Into Briggs Beach Entrance
The following incidents and arrest information were supplied by the Little Compton Police Department. All arrests do not indicate a conviction.
responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Monday, May 30. The incident reportedly occurred at 5:36 p.m. at the entrance of Briggs Beach on Shaw Road. The vehicle is said to have lost control and gone off the roadway, striking several posts, a sign and a wooden arm for the automatic gate.
According to Lt. Antone Marion on Tuesday, everything was repaired the following day, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to West Hill Lane at 6:57 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, for a resident's report that someone stole 50 of his tomato plants from his roadside vegetable stand. On Tuesday, Lt. Marion said there is no update to that incident, and it is not that uncommon in the summer for people to steal from unattended roadside stands.
Stolen flat screen television

A West Main Road resident reported to police at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, May 30, that he recently returned to his summer residence to find that a flat screen television had been stolen. The theft may have occurred sometime between September and now. On Tuesday, Lt. Marion said there were no signs of forced entry and the investigation is ongoing.
Smashed car window
A New Hampshire man reported to Little Compton Police at 10:36 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, that his vehicle window was smashed while parked at the on Sakonnet Road recently.
Arrests
- David R. Beard, 25, of 414 Long Highway, was arrested at 6:31 a.m. on Monday, May 30, at his residence and charged with domestic vandalism. According to police, they responded the residence after a 911 hang-up. A woman, Beard's girlfriend, reported that the two of them had been arguing and that Beard broke her telephone.
- Connor J. Macleod, 23, of 5 East Main Road, was summonsed at 11:28 p.m. on Monday, May 3,0 for operating a motor vehicle on an expired driver's license after being stopped on West Main Road for an expired registration.
- Marcelo Ruas, 27, of 84 Alden St., Fall River, was arrested by Little Compton Police at 1:33 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, on West Main Road. Ruas was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
- Leonel L. Perez, 23, of 111 Sterling St., Apt. 2, Providence, was arrested by police at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, on West Main Road. Perez was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
