WARWICK, RI — A Warwick man was arrested Monday after police found four emaciated dogs and the bodies of three dead dogs living in filth in his home, according to multiple reports.

Animal control officers arrived at the scene on Sand Pond Road after receiving a report of an emaciated dog in the backyard "with no access to food or water," WPRI reported.

The dogs' owner, 22-year-old Michael J. Diaz, is facing charges of three felony counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals resulting in death, four misdemeanor counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals, and failing to provide adequate living conditions, according to ABC6.

Diaz is being held at Warwick Police Headquarters until his court hearing Tuesday, the outlet reported.
