Garceau to leave as new school year begins (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly's longtime school superintendent Mark Garceau will step down Sept. 4, just as the new school year begins, after a decade leading the district through major projects and the pandemic. The School Committee will meet Monday to map out interim leadership while Garceau prepares for a part-time superintendent role on Block Island and more time with family.
   

• Chariho and Westerly girls soccer preview (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly girls soccer enters a new season with first-year head coach Evo Deus and a strong core returning from four straight state finals appearances. The Bulldogs must replace several standout graduates but still feature proven scorers and a solid goalkeeper, while neighboring Chariho also looks to contend in a tough division.
