Westerly Weighs Water Impact Fees and a $4 Million Well (upriseri.com) โ Westerly leaders are considering sharply higher water hookup fees on new development to help fund a roughly $4 million well that could take two years to build. The council stressed that existing customers' water rates would not change, while debating impact fees, a possible development moratorium, and the 139-year-old agreement that also supplies Stonington projects across the Pawcatuck River.

Westerly Council Eyes Tower Street Site for Senior Housing (upriseri.com) โ Westerly officials are zeroing in on land behind Tower Street School as their preferred site for new senior housing, though they must first renegotiate a long-term lease on most of the parcel. Councilors compared several town-owned properties, weighed infrastructure and wetlands constraints, and agreed the Tower Street location's walkability and proximity to Wood River Health make it the strongest option, with next steps focused on talks with the leaseholder.

Chariho football game kickoff moved up to 4:30 p.m. Friday (thewesterlysun.com) โ Westerly football fans can catch the Bulldogs hosting Classical at 7 p.m. Friday, with officials working a rare double-duty after Chariho's earlier kickoff was moved to 4:30 p.m. because of a referee shortage. Westerly enters at 2-2, coming off a strong win over Division I Portsmouth, and will lean on quarterback Calvin Hill III and standout receiver Danny Cummings to keep the momentum going.
