About the artist:

"Westerly native Nan Young has been involved in photography and design since childhood — yep, she started with a Brownie camera. Young learned about black & white processes as a teen, in the basement darkroom that her father built. Hooked, she went on to study at URI with the late Bart Parker and Stephan Brigidi. Over the years, an awareness of the startling beauty and elegance of everyday objects and occurrences has evolved — think clouds … and jello … and drops of dew — and these images have become prominent in her work. Young shoots a wide variety of subject matter, always with the thought of seeing things in a way you might not. A reflection in a dishpan becomes a delightful display of colors and shapes … a bowl of jello a carnival of textures, color, and terrain. This is Young’s third exhibit at the Hoxie Gallery. She has also exhibited in Westerly’s VIRTU Art Festival, the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival, and the Westerly Artists Coop Annual Juried Show. Please visit nanpix.zenfolio.com to view more work."
