"Through multiple interviews, detectives learned that two brothers orchestrated the event in an effort to generate attention on social media and in the news," the release said. The two brother accomplished their objective, as the viral video of an unknown person dressed in a Ku Klux Klan outfit — complete with pointed, hooded mask — walking around the Arctic section of town about 2 a.m. Monday completely took social and traditional media by storm.

The success of their prank notwithstanding, the brothers insist they are not white supremacists or affiliated with a racist organization, according to police.
