2011 College Graduates

Woonsocket residents take home degrees from institutions across New England and beyond.

During 2011 commencement ceremonies, Woonsocket residents received degrees with honors at some of the most impressive universities in the country.

At Salve Regina's 61st commencement, Second Lady to the United States Jill Biden presented the address and was awarded an honorary doctorate in humane letters. Two city men were amongst the 678 to receive degrees.

Providence College presented honorary bachelor's degrees for the first time in college history at their 93rd commencement. The degrees were given to members of the U.S. Army Specialized Training Program who attended the College in 1943-44 but were deployed to combat in World War II and never returned to complete their education. Five Woonsocket residents were also awarded degrees.
